Thanks for sharing Tom. I’ve had similar “thoughts” in the past but recently I’ve forced myself to take a moral position on Palestine and confront uncomfortable truths. One cannot “both sides” the narrative and take a neutral stance just because it feels more comfortable. The genocide in Palestine is removing the gray lines and forcing those with a conscience to take a strong position no matter the inner conflicts.

I feel like I'm seeing more and more of that and it's encouraging, but I realize it may only be that I have surrounded myself with people (especially in my social media) who agree.

You strike me as thoughtful and not at all reflexive, and that can only be to your benefit.

I, too, have focused mostly on Palestine over the last six to seven months, for many of the reasons you list here. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, even -- especially -- for the difficult ones that you're clearly grappling with. I realize this may sound paradoxical, but it takes courage to be vulnerable.

Tom, you're a wonderful writer. I am really impressed, not that you should need my assessment in any way. The speed with which you have educated yourself, the types of serious authors you have chosen...though I'm guessing you're in Ann Arbor so that might influence the quality of books available... You've got a great "regular guy" voice with incisive interpretation and insight. Your awareness and sensitivity comes shining through as you share your journey and your thought processes. Once again, thank you for being a fellow human, beyond all labels.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. However, there is an important point that need to be highlighted:-

1) Zionists has nothing to do with being Jewish

2) Arab people are Semitic people, while people of Israil claim they are Semitic, but they are not.

Thanks for reading!

1) I completely understand that Zionism and Judaism are different, that many Jews are not Zionists, and that most Zionists are actually Christian. However I wouldn't say Zionism has nothing to do with being Jewish because I think it is true that most Jewish people are Zionists.

2) It is true that many Israelis have European ancestry, but many are also semites. In fact many Israeli citizens are Palestinian Arabs.

1) True 👍🏼

2) Even if some of them are semites, this contradicts with calling anyone who criticises them as “antisemitism”, as Arabs are semites people.
