I could not pull myself together to watch the film. It would depress me and distract from action.
I am now very intrigued to watch and read what Samantha Youssef has to say. We need to become better and better at critical thinking as uncomfortable as the process may be. So, reading eye-opening articles like yours or watching Youssef directly helps with that.
Thank you, Samer. Yes, I think we all need these constant reminders that there are incredibly powerful forces at work to distract, confuse, and/or discourage us at every turn. Of course we would love for the world to know Hind’s story so we latch on to what appears to be a vehicle for that, but through a critical lens it clearly is not. Some are going to say we’re letting perfect be the enemy of good, but Samantha’s critique of this film is not that it doesn’t tell Hind’s story perfectly, but that it doesn’t tell it at all. Every one of us who wants justice for Hind should demand better.
Looking forward to the interview with Robin Anderson. I hadn't heard of her book but met her at the Izzy Awards in Ithaca and she told me about it. It's on my reading list.
That's cool. I wasn't familiar with her or the book but after I interviewed Omar Zahzah about his book "Terms of Servitude" his publicist (who is also Robin's publicist) reached out to me about this one. I have to say even though I read most of these news items in real time as over the past 2.5 years, seeing them all in one place is jarring.
I feel the media has opened up a little bit for criticism of Israel, way too late, which makes it easy to forget just how unrelenting and one sided it was. I've started Adam Johnson's How to Sell a Genocide which has some incredible stats.
Thank you Tom.

I’m looking forward to reading that one too.
